Musk’s “everything app” Plan for X

Following the rather sudden purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk last year, many have speculated how the app will change, and, more importantly for us, the implications of these changes for marketing. In an X employee all-hands, Musk revealed many of his plans for the app.

In summary, Musk stated that Twitter became X to replace YouTube, LinkedIn, FaceTime, dating apps, and even your bank. The term “digital town square” was used to describe the all-encompassing features that X will provide.

Implications

Marketers must remain adaptable and keep in X at least partly in future strategy. Whilst focussing on your consistent plans with other digital platforms, it is important to keep a close eye on how X will develop to ensure you are first to leverage anything new. Digital marketing is inherently dynamic and volatile, and the future of X will be no different.

If Musk’s plan is achieved, despite its controversies, X will be an app that marketers must master. Through uniting so many digital features, the app may revolutionise customer behaviour. Such changes will inevitably require new marketing methods and tactics to capitalise on this shift.

Here at Reeder Marketing, we understand that adapting to change is crucial. We will continue to monitor the developments of X very closely, and will provide further updates and analysis to keep you ahead of the curve.
